Its almost Tom's Birthday! (September 22nd)
and The Shooting Star Trust, which
is building a
hospice for children who are not expected to live to
adulthood. The site
for the hospice will allow Shooting Star to serve
families in the
London/Surrey area, which is where Tom is from.
Currently those families
must travel considerable distances for hospice care,
placing additional
burdens on the shoulders of the families already
dealing with the fact
that their child is dying. In addition to caring for
the patients
themselves, hospices often offer services to the
families such as grief
counseling and other needed assistance.
